MBA application season 2026–27 is around the corner, and Round 1 deadlines are only 2.5–3 months away.
Most top business schools have already released their application deadlines, with many falling in September. Several leading programs, including Wharton, Kellogg, Berkeley Haas, Columbia, Duke Fuqua, UCLA Anderson, Foster, and Cambridge Judge, have already released their deadlines and essay questions for the 2026–27 admissions cycle.
My experience working with MBA applicants over the past 15 years has taught me one thing: applicants who start early are often the most successful.
If you have already taken the GMAT or GRE, now is the time to focus on the other equally important—and often overlooked—components of the application process:
• Finalizing your target school list
• Researching programs and connecting with students and alumni
• Clarifying your short- and long-term career goals
• Identifying strong recommenders and briefing them on your goals
• Reflecting on your personal, professional, and leadership experiences
• Developing compelling stories for your essays and interviews
If you have not yet taken the GMAT or GRE, schedule it as soon as possible while simultaneously beginning your school research and application planning.
The strongest MBA applications are not built in a few weeks. They require thoughtful self-reflection, thorough school research, and a clear understanding of your career goals.
If Round 1 is your target, now is the time to move from planning to execution.
