From 2011 to 2016, Poonam contributed her travel pieces to 'Valley India Times', Arizona’s leading newspaper for Indian communities and businesses. Her favorite authors are Jane Austen, Ernest Hemingway, Amy Tan, R.K. Narayan, Ruskin Bond, Robin Sharma, and Dale Carnegie.
She currently lives in Chandler, Arizona.
