SUCCESS STORIES

I received admits from Kellogg, Haas, Yale, and UCLA Anderson, with scholarships!

Although I had already written most of essays and was confident that they were good, I decided to sign up for a single essay review service so as to double check the quality of my work. I signed up for myEssayReview because it was highly rated at GMAT Club, and because it offered very competitive pricing for a one essay review. After completing the review process with Poonam for this essay, I realized that she helped me to elevate the quality of my essay to an entirely new level! As a result, I decided to sign up to essay review to six schools I applied as well as résumé review. Here is my feedback on my experience of working with Poonam:

Understands you as a person: Poonam was interested in understanding my whole story as an applicant and as a person, though I had initially just signed up for a one essay review. In addition, I could also understand her background and method of working, which helped us to work productively while not losing sight of my goals and characteristics. She provided me valuable advice on my school selection, application strategy, time management, and even résumé improvements, all of which were not part of the scope of my original service hired.

Delivers a Clear Sentence Structure:  Poonam demonstrated that my first drafts had stories with unnatural flow and frequently lacked a clear link between the story and the point I was trying to make. Once we identified the point, then we discussed on how each part of the example was supporting the point. This method was vital not only to stay focused on my key messages but also to trim side arguments and reach the tight word limits. Poonam used an effective and elegant word choice - not overly sophisticated vocabulary. As a non-native speaker, I found it so helpful because I wouldn´t be comfortable with words that I would never write on my essays.

Effective Edits: Effective editing/trimming of essays is one of Poonam’s main strengths. I frequently sent her very large essays thinking, there is no way to achieve the allowed word-limit – but she consistently delivered on the word limit! In addition, I found helpful that she offered my choices on what contents to sacrifice or details to omit, so that I was able to consciously evaluate the trade offs and make choices that maintained the essence of my examples.

Results speak for themselves! In the end, I was interviewed to all of the six schools I applied, admitted to four of them (Kellogg, Berkeley-Haas, Yale SOM and UCLA Anderson) and waitlisted at Stanford GSB. Plus, three of them offered me substantial scholarships! Kellogg-70K scholarship (Donald Jacobs scholarship), Yale SOM - 20k scholarship , UCLA Anderson -70k scholarship. Now I’m heading to Kellogg with scholarship! I had never imagined I would be so successful. Without doubt, Poonam has contributed substantially!

Beyond being admitted to my dream school with scholarship, I gained a lot from working with Poonam. I improved my writing and critical thinking abilities, and also had a great time working with Poonam. Thank you Poonam for your guidance.

My essays demonstrated a solid mastery of intellectual writing and helped me secure $45,000 scholarship from Emory.

I felt pretty confident in my overall ability as an MBA applicant, so I was not necessarily looking for a complete MBA consultant package. Instead, I searched mainly for a consultant that would help me ‘tell my story’ through my essays. Telling a story can be difficult, and it becomes incredibly more challenging when you only have 300 words to do so. After researching many other MBA consulting groups and their “a la carte” services, I decided to sign up for the free evaluation session with myEssayReview. Based on the research I had done, the evaluation session, and the reviews on GMAT Club, I knew that myEssayReview would be the resource I would need to succinctly tell my stories in as much detail as possible.

The 1-hour initial meeting that we had after Poonam did the first review of my resume and essays was VERY helpful. The questions that were asked about each essay helped me come up with a plan on how to tackle the first rewrite of each piece. When it would come time to work on the next essay, I would simply pull out the notes I had taken from our initial review and use them as guidelines to rebuild the essay. The initial review gave me the toolset and understanding I needed so that I never felt unprepared when I was doing my personal edits.

From Poonam’s feedback, I could understand how a reader (knowing nothing of the story I was trying to tell) would interpret the details and what questions they would ask. Those questions helped me eliminate unnecessary explanations while bolstering the areas in my story that not only drew the most attention, but also helped most to support the final conclusion. The guidelines she provided for the structure of my essays were very logical and, once followed, made my stories flow so much more clearly. I felt that my initial essays told a story adequately, but were difficult to follow and left readers asking a lot of questions. By reading through each detail carefully and showing me how it all pieced together, she was able to design a framework for each story that flowed naturally and was simply easier to read and understand.

Moreover, Poonam’s ability to trim my word count was very effective. In fact, I was very impressed at times when I would receive an edited draft back from her and see she had cut large groupings of words with no negative impact to the story! It’s amazing to me to see how many unnecessary words I would write simply because I thought that they were required, when in fact the entire idea could be replaced with 3-4 words and retain the overall impact of the detail.

I was very happy with Poonam’s stylistic design and word choice. I felt that the improvements she suggested made the story flow much more clearly, while showing the necessary writing finesse. Once completed, my essays demonstrated a solid mastery of intellectual writing that is necessary at the MBA education level. Also, turn-around was fantastic! I could always count on her timeliness, and I never felt rushed or worried that we wouldn’t have time to complete all of my essays. In fact, Poonam even notified me of her personal vacation scheduled close to Emory’s deadline and worked diligently to help me finish my application two weeks early! To the highest degree, she always gave me excellent feedback and helped me submit the absolute best work I could have submitted, which is exactly what I was looking for in our partnership.

Poonam was a pleasure to work with, and I loved discussing my stories with her! I didn’t feel like she was simply there to help me do my work and then move on. Rather, she took an interest in my stories and asked genuine questions about me and my life, which, in turn, helped me write even better and in more detail. I would GLADLY recommend Poonam to friends and colleagues, as well as anyone who is looking for the perfect resource to help them get the most out of their MBA essays. In fact, I’ve already passed on her contact information to someone I met at a networking event.

Poonam helped me turn my ideas into wonderful short stories that obviously appealed to the Ad Com immensely. I am admitted to Emory for both the 1-year and 2-year programs with generous merit-based scholarship: $45,000 if I choose the 1-year program and $60,000 if I choose the 2-year program. My main choice is the 1-year program as my background and post-MBA goals fit well into that program's rigor and accelerated curriculum, and I believe getting back into the workforce quicker is most ideal.

Poonam was an incredible resource, and I am so thankful for her personal hard work and dedication to my MBA dreams.

I received interview call from each university I applied to!

As a candidate from an over represented pool (Indian, software engineer, male, low GPA, almost nil community service experience - you name it!) of MBA aspirants, I knew that my chances were pretty slim. The competition is intense and, considering a demanding job with 14 straight working hours for six days a week and very less time in hand (I started considering applying to B-schools late November), I soon realized that I would need someone who could guide me in the essays. I got to know about Poonam's service through e-GMAT and decided to give it a shot. First I purchased a three-essay package, and was so impressed with her service that further purchased a three-school package.

And I think that that was the best decision I took during my application process!

Poonam was everything I could ask for - genuinely interested in helping me get into the school of my dreams yet demanding in her guidance and feedback. She helped me through every step of the process - pushing me to stay on schedule, rigorously reviewing all of my written materials, and pepping me up whenever I used to get overwhelmed. She showed me how a minute update/ placement/ replacement of word could change the entire message in the essay (yes, in one essay just moving one 'though' from one part to another part added an extra 'zing' to that essay). She helped me to find my own words and craft a message that I truly felt was my own.

Moreover, Poonam was there every step of the way. For two essays I was running behind the schedule due to heavy workload at office and discovered that I was just few hours from the deadlines. I was amazed to find that she spent whole day working with me. I would like to quote her "I will work with you until you are all set to submit your application with a smile on your face." This was extremely appreciated, especially since she sacrificed much of her time over the holidays. I received interview call from each university, except one reject (Harvard. and I solely believe that it is because I could not get the essays reviewed by her due to time constraint), I applied to: UCLA, DARDEN, BOOTH, TUCK. I am accepted by Darden on 50% scholarship and waitlisted by UCLA. I cannot ask for anything more! And I owe everything to her!!

Thank you Poonam. Without your help, I cannot imagine how I would have handled my job and stressful applications all at once. Anyone who is serious about applying to graduate business school should consider using Poonam's service. Trust me: you'll thank yourself for your decision.

I was interviewed by 3 out of 5 schools I applied to! I am going to Tippie.

Poonam has provided extensive reviews on my essays, recommendations and resume. When I compared final version with the first draft of my essay, I was really surprised to see the sheer change in the story building. I liked her approach of review and suggestions. When I finished first college essays, looking at the quality of the final versions, I extended my contract for other 4 colleges as well. I got interview calls from Tippie, Mays, and Kelley and am accepted by Kelley on 70% scholarship, but this is all Poonam's effort that made me think through about my past experiences and cultural backgrounds and to work hard to meet the deadlines of schools. Her turnaround time is the most outstanding part of the application package. Many a times, I forgot to send the drafts of the essays, but she always reminded me for the deadlines and sent feedback to me on or before the time.

Poonam has always provided the feedback to make the content story like. She always emphasized to bridge the gaps on the story and helped me think through my past experiences and cultural background. Her review comments on the recommendations were to the points and compelled my recommenders to think more about my work experience.

She always emphasized to make flow in the chronological order of the events and to build the essays story like. She always asked me to put the content relevant to the questions asked. Many a times, when I deviated from the main question, she asked me to focus on the specific details questions asked and provide relevant details after cutting fluff in the essay. Also, she helped me analyze my past experience and even the goals in the career, something that I never thought about seriously before and that is very important before applying to any B school. It was an excellent experience; she always asked me to put full story first without worrying about the word limit. Then she helped in trimming the essays and put only relevant and structured sentences in the essays. This really helped me building an efficient story in the end.

She always emphasized on precise sentences and made sure that story is not becoming monotonous. I generally use normal vocabulary in my writing; she made my stories great by adding good and more meaningful vocabulary in the story. She always made sure that my essays are grammatically correct and that there were no disconnected elements in the story.

Thanks Poonam for all your support in my applications! I would strongly recommend your application services to other applicants. I am sure that had I not availed your services, I would not have been able to apply to so many colleges in such a less time.

I worked with Poonam on 4 colleges and every single one of them invited me ($70K+ Scholarships)

First of all, Poonam is a wonderful coach. She started by putting a lot of effort into digging out my best stories in order to get a good selection for typical themes (leadership, setback, goals, etc.). The editing process is pretty structured: she uses the first couple of edits to get the right content (without concerning with word count) and the last couple of edits to make the essays comply with the word count limits

The one-hour initial call was really helpful in identifying my best stories and reasons for applying to MBA. After that, the sample essays were essential to get me into the right “mood” (especially on Emory’s cultural shock essay). Although my recommenders kept making the same mistakes over and over, you kept reviewing the LORs to get them as best as possible. The concrete suggestions (e.g. sense of humor in Kellogg’s LORs) were essential to guide my recommenders.

I can’t thank you enough for all the effort you put in editing my essays. When everything seemed lost (such as a word count twice of the limit), your edits kept me focused in what was essential and what was fluff. You’ve operated some miracles in word count trimming.

Sometimes you’ve made some changes in the sentence order in paragraphs that enhanced the “readability” a lot. It’s my understanding that most of your word count miracles were due to changes in word choice to keep the meaning while reducing word counts (and it worked!). Well, I don’t know how I got a V41 in GMAT with my punctuation skills, but you certainly helped me with punctuation. Part of my application strategy was to get my essays perfect in grammar (due to low AWA score) and I feel that your edits helped me in achieving that.

Regarding timelines, you were more professional than I expected on following deadlines. This helped a lot, especially in crafting Emory’s essays in a couple of days. During the whole process you kept me very motivated, especially when I needed some wake-up calls.

Yes, Poonam, thank you (again) for all the support during this process. I couldn’t get there without your help. I feel that words aren't enough to thank you for all your support. I can’t wait to join Cornell in fall, 2014.

High quality consulting service with unbelievably quick turnaround time

My main reasons for asking for help were the lack of native English reviewers and my doubts in quality of my essays at that time. I signed up for myessayreview services only a couple of days before the application deadlines of 3 UK schools: LBS, Cambridge, and Oxford. I am thrilled to say that I have received admits from all of three of them. I will be attending Cambridge that has also offered me scholarship. I couldn't be happier.

To begin with, Poonam's recommendations, guidelines and sample essays helped me to understand the missing elements in my essays and rephrase unclear parts. She recommended removing some unnecessary details of my draft essays and adding other relevant details which helped me organize and structure my essays effectively. Throughout the one week process, she satisfactorily addressed all of my questions and doubts. I must say her help with trimming down my essays was invaluable. She able to shorten 750 word essay by a third which is incredible. Her excellent knowledge of English language has immensely helped me in writing, proofreading, and finalizing my essays.

The turnaround time was unbelievably quick. We managed to complete five essays and a resume in just one week. Understanding the tight deadlines, she prioritized my application and managed to edit the essays and resume several times per day including weekend. I am very grateful for such effort and am sure it would have been hard to come by if I had worked with other consultants.

Poonam, I just want to say thank you so much for all your help and incredible pace of your work. It was a pleasure working with you. I am sure your other clients will be as happy with your services as I am!

Poonam not only provided me with the best possible technical advice, but she also helped me boost my confidence at a point of weakness and tiredness

I would not recommend anyone to start so late, but I first contacted Poonam Tandon (myEssayReview) 72 hours before the deadline for the two essays and resume of one of my applications. I thought being advised by a PhD in English Literature, who loves writing, and with proven track record reviewing successful essays for top-ranked business schools was my best possible choice.

We communicated by skype and email, and I always received timely and clear answers that guided me to write more efficiently and effectively. Poonam and I discussed my personal and professional background and then she made sharp suggestions of the strongest topics to address the essay questions. As a result, I confidently chose my topics and focused on developing them. Also, Poonam gave me clear directions about format and structure, along with guidelines to ‘unleash’ my stories in a more compelling and thorough way. Finally, she edited my essays to trim them to the word limits and corrected grammatical mistakes. One of the most challenging essays we worked on was the cover letter for MIT, with only 250 words.

Poonam also helped me build a strong resume. First, she provided me with a format that made me gain more space to focus on professional accomplishments. Then, she helped me strengthen every bullet point by choosing appropriate action verbs and focus on the outcomes. Finally, with the structure she suggested, I was able to better highlight other areas such as academic accomplishments and personal interests, making a well-rounded resume.

We worked fast, with turn-arounds in less than 24 hours, so despite time constraints, we built strong essays and resume well before each deadline. I would like to mention here that New Year’s Eve was right in the middle of that short period of 72 hours before Ross deadline. I couldn’t be more grateful to Poonam as she agreed to provide her strong support and advice and turned-around much faster than me. Also, I liked that she didn’t charge extra for rush service.

Overall, it was a pleasure to work with Poonam, She not only provided me with the best possible technical advice, but she also helped me boost my confidence at a point of weakness and tiredness. I had high expectations and the results were far better than expected.

I have already received interview invite from Ross, and I am optimistic about MIT as well. I would recommend her services to everyone.

I will be joining MiF program of the LBS in August. Thank you Poonam!

I was looking for a consultant to help me organize my thought process and provide me a constructive feedback on my ‘story’ to make my essays the strongest part of the application.

I was impressed with Great reviews of myEssayReview services by GMAT club members, so I signed up for my application for MiF program of the LBS.

After Poonam reviewed first drafts of my essays, she claimed that my story already sounded impressive. But she suggested several very important spins and additions to the existing content, allowing for more clear vision of my long-term goals.

Poonam effectively helped me to highlight key points of the story and colorfully illustrate my strongest areas. My essays’ structure significantly improved following Poonam’s recommendations and reviews. Poonam trimmed them down the word count by c. 20% beyond my expectations without compromising on key statements.

The turnaround was extremely effective – average turn-around time was even lower than 24 hour as stipulated on the website.

I have got an offer from LBS, my dream school, and I will be joining the program in August! Thank you so much for your help; it was truly amazing.

I would recommend Poonam’s services to anyone who is targeting to make the most out of the essay part of the application. Amazing experience worth its money.

I would recommend ‘myessayreview’ for anyone who wants to get admission from top business school.

As you all know, after giving the GMAT, the next important step for any B-school admission is the school essays. I initially tried writing some sample essays, and after reading them, i realized I have pretty bad writing skills. I zeroed in on 'myessayreview' after reading all the reviews on Gmat club. Poonam is excellent in editing the essays. I had applied to 7 schools, I got interview invites from 5 schools, and converted two of them into admits (ISB, UW Foster).

We started off by building resume. Her initial guidelines/ template helped me compose a decent first draft before we started refining/ polishing the resume. I really liked the way she used different action verbs for each bullet point and focused on the impact I made on my organization. This helped us create a strong resume that effectively showcased my profile .

We then picked up essays. From the beginning, Poonam’s recommendations helped me to answer exactly what the essay prompt was asking. All her inputs helped me to select the right story for each essay. After working with her, I understood that even though the essay prompts of different schools look similar, they are not. As a first-time applicant, I didn’t think about the flow of the essay. Thanks to her edits/ guidelines, all my essays looked great after her final review.

She is excellent at reducing the word limit of the essay without losing the impact. For some essays, she amazed me by trimming down more than 100 words without sacrificing any essential elements of the story. The turnaround time was always less than 24 hours. I even remember that she refunded part of the fee for one essay as she finalized the essay in only one edit.

Don't expect her to write your essays, but she will guide you at every step of the way and help you submit the best essay. The other advantages of working with Poonam/myessayreview are you will work directly with her and the price for the services is inexpensive compared to all the other admission consulting companies.

I was very happy with her services and the results. Along the way, I improved my writing skills. Thanks for everything, Poonam

Great essay review service! Highly recommend!

I, like most MBA applicants, was in the market for an admissions consultant. I explored another consulting service, which was great in its own right, but was over my budget especially for the service I was looking for, which was strictly essay review.

I stumbled upon myEssayReview by reading reviews on GMATClub. Based on all the good reviews, I figured I'd give myEssayReview a try. I contacted Poonam to schedule an initial assessment. During our assessment, she gathered information about my profile and gave me some recommendations on the schools I should work on first. After our assessment, I decided to go with the 2 essay review package.

One of my main takeaways from my interactions with Poonam was how quickly she reviewed and returned my essay back to me. It typically would take her 24-48 hours to follow up with me. Her edits were very thorough, helping me with my syntax, fixing grammatical errors, and helping me choose the most powerful stories and connections based on the essay prompt.

She reviewed each of my essays about three times each, each time tidying up my story and tweaking a little here and there to make sure the final draft was as perfect as possible. She carefully made sure the organization and structure of my essays flowed in a logical manner and trimmed the superfluous "fat" to make them fit the 750 word limit.

Overall, I highly recommend working with Poonam. I can only speak for her essay review services, which was exactly what I was looking for: affordable pricing and high-touch, personalized consultation.
